A Message to Our Patients on Medical Supply Post-Recreational Cannabis Legalization

Last week, Organigram announced its plans to allocate around 25 per cent of its future production efforts toward supplying the adult recreational cannabis market in New Brunswick, following the change in adult recreational cannabis legislation, set for July 1, 2018.

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our valuable medical patients that their access to Organigram’s suite of medical cannabis products will not be affected in any way as a result of our supply commitments to the adult recreational market.

As part of OrganiGram’s ongoing commitment to patient safety, we are pleased to announce that, effective today, Certificates of Analysis for available strains will be made available to registered patients within our web store. Certificates will be posted as soon as soon as they are released. 

To access reports, select a strain after logging in through the patient portal. Certificates are posted beneath the product’s description.

Organigram Posts Highest Single-Week Sales

Record set on Strength of Newly Harvested, Tested Product

The record-setting sales follow the release of Organigram’s newly harvested and tested marijuana.  The crops were grown under the company’s new operating protocols which includes testing all harvested product to ensure the product’s purity.  Those new procedures were implemented when traces of unapproved pesticides were detected in some of its dried and oil-based products harvested last year. That product was voluntarily recalled by the company.

Organigram Completes Investigation and Provides Update on Compensation Policy

Denis Arsenault, Organigram’s Chief Executive Officer, oversaw an extensive investigation that ultimately resulted in inconclusive findings with no hard evidence leading to the source of the contamination discovered. However, as a result of the contamination issue, the company has instituted a series of new protocols to prevent a reoccurrence of any issue of this nature. “We are determined to never have this happen again,” said Arsenault. “The inquiry was thorough and was undertaken with the full cooperation and assistance of Health Canada and outside experts.”

Organigram Supports Health Canada Auditing Improvements

Organigram has enhanced its testing protocol beyond the required regulatory testing to ensure that all products currently being sold on its store, and all products sold in the future, will be tested for an expanded quantity of possible contaminants, including Bifenazate and Myclobutanil. Since the recall dates, Organigram has grown, harvested and tested numerous lots of medical marijuana, and all have passed the additional testing protocols.

Update on Product Recall

The product recall previously announced on December 30, 2016 has been expanded to include additional lots of cannabis produced in 2016.

Organigram Announces Voluntary Product Recall

Organigram is voluntarily recalling certain lots of medical marijuana which were supplied between August and December 2016 due to the detection of amounts of an unapproved pesticide not registered for use on marijuana under the Pest Control Products Act. Our client service department is directly notifying all clients affected by the recall. Any further action, if necessary, will be undertaken at the direction of Health Canada.

Overview of Medical Marijuana Terminology

The following overview of terminology can be helpful for patients that are inexperienced or new to medical marijuana:

Cannabis is a plant genus that produces three species of flowering plants: Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis. When producing medical marijuana, Cannabis sativa and Cannabis indica are the dominant species used. Cannabis goes through a vegetative stage and a flowering stage before it is harvested.
